So what has been happening?

I'm half way through on my repeat of year 2 at university and because of some stress issues, I've missed out on two main coding assignments (php and actionscript 3.0) needless to say I'll be resitting those two modules during the summer holidays (but if I work on them slowly now then I may not have to do them during the holidays and just hand them in when ready). Sam you've got to start working again! or you'll never graduate from university. Anyway that's a little update on what's been happening with me during the past year. Also I have writen a little review on Heavy Rain, check it out :D.

New msn

Ever since I was in secondary school, msn (or windows messenger) has been the main reason as to why I would kick off someone from the house computer for. It has been the cheapest way to talk to people (with out thinking about the price of net connection haha), and it is still widely used today. From a simple online chat program were you can talk to people you have on your friends list, it has changed greatly since then.

The latest version of this program has had a dramatic new look to it, as you can see with the image opposite there has been a new cleaner look added to the sign in page when the program starts and signing in doesn't take to long as well (which is a good thing). The main area where the contacts are kept has had a whole new look added to it and has changed allot. As you can see there are no more tabs to the left hand side that link of to other sites such as ebay or facebook, as they are now on the bottom of the page which i didnt see at first. The contact groups have all been kept the same as well so thats good. The status of fellow users has been changed from little msn icons to just different coloured squares which is different and would give a clearer understanding of what a user is up to (i.e. if they are online, away etc.). At the top there are no tabs to change quickly now (like in most programs), it is on the right hand side of the main area page (show menu icon), which I found to be not so helpful as i was used to it being at the top left corner. At the bottom of the main area page there is now a live feed of what people have changed (like with facebooks status change), on they're messenger space (seriously why would I need to know?). A new feature of this page is you can change the background image and colour style of it, making it more personal is good but I dont really think we need to have this really. This is just a small review of the main page are and the layout, now lets move onto the actual chat pages.

The chating area has changed as well as the display pictures are no longer on the right hand side they are on the left hand side which is okay I guess, but why change the positioning of somthing that allot of people are used to. About the display picture, yes finally animated gifs can be used as display pictures and work as well (but on the older version they would look static (not move)) which is pritty goog because I've wanted this for a good while but never thought it would happen (well it did now so I'll shut up about it). Just like the previous version of MSN the background can be changed but only the text area can be changed. With the changing of backgrounds "dynamic" backgrounds can be used as well which are animated backgrounds, but not animated gif files, I tested with an animated gif file and it shows each individual frame within the file itself. All the other features are still there such as the nudge, send audio clip, send file and send wink. So over all what has really changed about this is the fact that only the background image for were the text apears can be changed and the placing of the display pic really, nothing else to say on that.

One thing I noticed during the time of writing this review is that there is no sound to alert you, that someone has singed online onto MSN, maybe because it seem to be anouying, but still it means im cheacking if someone is online now or not.

Overall the latest version of MSN is good, with the whole making it more personal by making you customise it more, but in the end nothing new has really been changed onit, just the changing of the layout itself, making it more customizable and adding animated gifs as a display picture's. I think this would work better on the latest OS of windows, as there has been more fancier fading effects added to the program so it would slow down if it was used on a computer that wasnt up to scratch. In the end its still a nice program to use when chatting to friends etc. I just think this update wasnt really worth it, to be honest unless you want a new look to msn keep to the previous version of the program. Its not really worth updateing for.

Well Christmas is around the corner now... are you all ready for it? lol I have been since November! but yeah it's only going get busy in work from now on =_=; ah well.
As for other things that's been happening with me... my faith in anime has been restored as I have finally finished watching Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann! O_O I can see this being a cult classic and will be a long and favourite anime for a long run (the Evanglion of 2008 :D) cant wait for the movie to be subbed now when that's out im getting it straight away XD. Also im watching the following:

well my brain has been all week O_O, been buisy emptying nanas house and i've got to say that was seriously depressing =_=' either taking things to a recycling place or giving to charity. But still i've inherited some belongings that iv always liked and thats my granpas medals or his army badges. Yep his badges have now found a new place in my bedroom, along with nanas chinese vases that she owned as well. Dont worry nana i'll look after them for you now :D

In other news: ITS CHRISTMAS! and i dont feel excited at all O_O not a bit, it just feels the same, the only thing i feel is a light walet and a tight budget up until student loans comes through in the new year O_O.

First of all its bloody cold! XO its like in the minus's in the nights here in Wales atm and I'm not likeing it one bit well in the evenings at least because its freezing when i leave the gym in the night with Sarah... ah well cant be helped, guess I gota go dig out my scary and gloves soon I think... oh and the deicer as well for the car XD.
Well next week is Guy Fawkes so hopefully I'll be able to drive upto Rugby for a few days and watch the fierworks up there with my man (lets face it the firework displays in Swansea arent up to much really) If my dad alows it (fingers crossed for yes!). Well I'm gona be buisy this week as my mum has had an operation on Tuesday so its all hands on deck for helping out with what ever she needs done really (shes a bit of a stubborn women and most of the time refuses for help... must run in the family really). So yeah thats what has been happening this week and hopefully to happen next week as well :D

Things havnt been goin to well lately for me, last weekend I had to phone off work due to a serious asthma attack I had on that Saturday, but because i still wasnt feeling to good I had to miss the whole weekend and uni on the monday and tuesday because my breathing hasnt been to good (and walking up that mini mountain to get to uni would kill me O_O )...
During that weekend I found out an old school friend of mine passed away in his sleep, Paul was the same age as me (19) but he lost the battle to cancer for the final time (3rd time cancer had come back and he was doing so well recovering recently) it just shows life doesnt give anyone a chance no matter what age they are really.

Yeah I know I'm back in uni but my main wonder was what the hell was my pass mark... well I had the email today to say what it was... and my average pass mark from last year is 53.5 (in other words 2.2) so with that in mind i gota work a hell of alot harder if i want the first (70+) when I graduate from uni :D

Seriously I've just started back at uni today and all I have is 4 lessons a week! 4 lessons! and what is worse, the things we were promissed to do in the second year (i.e games design, animation, 3D modeling) are not on my timetable (only a actionscript 3 lessons fingers crossed for that one) but seriously only 4 lessons ¬_¬ why! why!

Okay so theres been a negative way about the new layout on facebook lately. As a user of the social network myself I find it quiet refreshing to have a new layout for the website, as the old one has been used scince 2004 till so far. It works better with the latest version of firefox 3 (the browser I use), the pages load up fast as well, plus it all neat and tidy. Yes the news feed feature is kinda stalkerish I agree with that, but think about it, how many people you know from facebook have said to you "oh you havnt updated you status on facebook lately!"... well? think about that next time.
From the looks of it all it seems I'm one of a very few who seem to like the whole new layout on the website itself, all I gota say is about it is:

Scince it is a sunday I tend to laze about, well during my laze about I reliesed that there is only 1 week left until I start my second year now in university :O Cant believe this holiday has gone really well. For example:
1. Yet again I'v worked alot through the holidays (my opinion meh!)
2. Been goin out with Connor for4 months now and no arguments (fabulous as he would say)
3. After meeting the rest of Connors family I get on with them well ^^ (yet again fabulous)
4. I got a wii! with wifi (WIN! p.s kt if your online as well send me your wii no. and if you've got brawl send me your friend code :D )
The only main point that has sucked about the past 3 weeks is... I still havnt got my car back D: oh god I hope I get it back soon starting uni now XP.
So yeah...
1 week to go people... just 1 week O_O better get ready soon...

The weather been horrible lately and I'v got the flu now =_= which is making it hard for me:
1) I cant breath when I go to sleep causing me to be tiered constantly
2) due to point one I cant even work properly due to point 1.
Also I'v missed a catch up i was gona have with kitty and faye which Im gutted about T_T because I was really looking farward to it.

In other news I'll be heading up to rugby for 6 days to see Connor. When I saw him last he was doing fine :D so yeah I'll be goin to rugby on the Wednesday next week and I'll be coming back on the Monday the week after ^_^
A nice little break I'v earned.

Also I wish my car would come back from the garage soon its anoying walking in the rain all the time.

A new chapter in the life of sam

A new chapter starts in my life as now the test of true love will begin. Basicly Connors gone to live in Rugby for his gap year with his sister so he can get a job, learn to drive all the normally things that are done during a gap year a supose. This is really going to test the pair of us now, scince all summer we spent every moment with each other, its really goin to be hard for both me and him. But i have faith and so does Connor and I know this will work out for the both of us.

Well im not really but jezz last night out was so fun :3 i havnt stayed out late in ages. Basically all i was doing was talking or typing away on msn then one of my friends who i havnt seen in 3 months asks if i wanted to go out for a bit, and scince it was gone 12.30 i didnt really want to, but in the end i did :D
Theres something about goin out in the night that i like a lot... i hate going out in the day mainly because theres lots of people about and stuff but in the nights the streets are mine for the taking >:3 but the main problem is i didnt get in untill 5 this morning and now my legs are killing me T_T.

Well the first year is now offically over for university (when i hand in my last assignment) but never the less. Its been a good year to start off with at uni, made good frineds, learned new things (and remembered old as well Y_Y) but still its been great.

recently I got in to contact with my old form tutor from comprehensive, so we had a good long catch up on how things have been in life in general... its funny though because she hasnt changed one bit and the goes same for me (according to katie anyway). I might have an aprentership during the summer with her working in her art studios, which would be great considering i havnt been doing proper art work scince first year at college so it would be nice to do the apprentership :D

As for now im hoping for my work transfer to go through because it will be easier for me to work in town than in my parents town due to traveling all the time and lets face it the cost of petrol isnt cheap anymore now... ah well anyway next week summer holidays offically start for me yippie! bring on the beachs!, BBQ's! and fun fun fun!

moving out

rightio so i moved out on the weekend but I feel like i havnt fully moved into my room yet, theres still some things that i need to do and sort out before im happy really :D
but still I like it as I dont have to get up early anymore for uni :D I can finaly sit through a lesson and not fall asleep yay :3
